Mead

The drink of the Gods!

In the 5L (which only really holds 4.5 plus gap required for yeast bubbles)

  • 2kg honey, 
  • 1 cup raw sugar, 
  • justice 1 orange, 
  • 1 cup black tea (I like Irish breakfast)

Mix together with hot water up to 4.5L

Make sure to aerate as much as possible either by whisk or by hosing in water.

You will want to use a yeast nutrient (DAP will do - it's what they have small packets of at brew shop) and get a good yeast. I currently like Vintners Harvest R56. (Goes about 15 or 16%) pitch yeast in when under 30 deg C
