Lazy Chinese Beef Stew

Ingredients:

  • 1.3kg beef (cubed ~3cm)
  • 1/4 cup Shooxing wine (or brandy)
  • 1 tbsp powered ginger
  • 3 green onions (halved cross-wise)
  • 4 bay leaves
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 tbsp sugar
  • 1/2 tsp ground black pepper
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp dark soy
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 3 carrots (large diced)
  • 2 medium potatoes (large dice)
Putting it all together:

Throw everything into a slow cooker and cook on high for 6 hours.

OR 

Throw everything into a pressure cooker and cook for 40 minutes
